Palash Sen is an Indian doctor turned lead vocalist of the Indian band Euphoria, and also a songwriter.

Early life and education

He was born to Dr Rupendra Kumar Sen and Dr Pushpa Sen on 23 September 1965. He is a half Bengali and half Dogra, was born in Banaras, and brought up in Delhi, staying in Connaught Place's Railway Colony [1] and Srinagar.

He did his schooling from from St. Columba's School, Delhi. Thereafter he studied at the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), New Delhi, and recived an M.B.B.S degree. [2]

Career

He used to compose songs from his college days itself in University College of Medical Sciences, his first composition in college was 'heaven on seventh floor' as his hostel room was on seventh floor. Palash Sen also known as Polly, is said to be the godfather of Hind Rock. He is the first person who sang in Hindi on rock music with tabla and flute. He launched "Mantra" - first ever single by India. Palash Sen, a pediatrician, is more acclaimed as a singer in the Rock group 'Euphoria (Indian band)'. He also writes lyrics and composes music for the group.

Palash's onscreen debut came with Bollywood movie Filhaal (2002) directed by Meghna Gulzar, which also starred Tabu and Sushmita Sen, thereafter he appeared in "And It Rained" segment of anthology film, Mumbai Cutting (2010). [3]

He has released many albums such Dhoom, Phir Dhoom and Gully. He is best known for his different style and performance on stage. Some of his most famous works are "Maaeri", "Dhoom Pichuck" and "Kabhi Aana to Meri Gully". He is a fan of Elvis Presley, The Beatles and many more.

After a three year gap Palash has come out with a new album Mehfuz for Euphoria. A fourth generation doctor in his family, Palash is completely devoted to his parents and Shalini, his better half.[4]

He has also been a judge on the Indian Popstars television show. He composed the song "Jio Dil Se" which became the theme song for the Indian radio station My FM.[5] In 2010, during the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he sang the Delhi theme song, Dilli Meri Jaan, Dilli Meri Shaan, performed by his band, Euphoria. Personal life

He is married to Shalini Sen, a lecturer at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi, and the couple have two kids, Kinshuk and Kyna, who study at Mother’s International School. He still runs a clinic in his house in Delhi. [2]
